Western Electric (Sold)

Western Electric type 294A common battery walnut fiddleback is in very good + condition and the finish is very good +.  Western Electric is stamped on the left side of the phone and the patent dates and disclaimer on the right side.  There is a paper diagram on the underside of the shelf.  The backboard is correct and is marked “Type 294A” on the back of the board.  The receiver is correct for the phone and marked Western Electric 143 AW on the cap.  The receiver shell has patent dates on the top.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and is marked Western Electric 350 W.  The mouthpiece is old and has the Western Electric “star” in the center; the cord is old.

Swedish American oak fiddleback is in good condition and the finish is good.  There are 4 patched holes in the phone.  Two of these are on the right side at both the upper and lower mounting holes (see pix).  There is a patched hole at the top corner of the ringter board.  There is a patched edge at the battery door.  There are 2 patched holes at the bottom of the left side of the phone and at the top mounting hole.  There is 1 split in the backboard, 24 inches in length, along a glue joint.  The receiver is old; there is a seam on both sides that may look like longitudinal “cracks” in the pictures.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and is “brassed out” and is marked Swedish American.  The transmitter arm is correct.  The mouthpiece is a repro and the cord is old.  Inside, the 5 bar magneto is marked and rings at the turn of the crank.   The switchhook is correct and marked Swedish American.  The ringer is a Swedish American, but it is not the one that came with the phone originally.

Swedish American oak fiddleback is in very good condition; the finish is good.  There do not appear to be any patched holes or unexplained holes in the wood.  The wiring in the recessed area of the backboard seems undisturbed; there is also a paper “Test Tag” on the back of the backboard.  The lightening arrestor is correct, and the bells are nickel.  The receiver is marked Swedish American.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and marked Swedish American; the transmitter arm is correct.  The mouthpiece is old, and the cord is new.  Insice, the 5 bar magneto is marked and rings at the turn of the crank.  The switch hook is unmarked.  there are no batteries in the box.

Chicago(Sold)

Chicago oak fiddleback is in very good condition; the finish is poor.  This phone is unusual in that the magneto is mounted on the floor of the usual battery compartment; this appears to have been done at the factory.    There is a metal name tag on the door of the battery compartment.  The lightening arrestor is correct; the bells are nickel, but need to be cleaned up.  The old receiver has 4 hairline cracks, each about 1 inch in length and all running longitudinally along the surface.  The transmitter is correct for the phone, has a beveled edge, and is marked “Chicago.”  The mouthpiece and the cord are both old.  Inside, the 5 bar magneto is marked and rings at the turn of the crank.  Botyh the switch hook and the ringer are correct.

Monarch Mono-fone.  This black desk phone with a round base has a "gold tone" name plate in the cradle (see pix).  It does not come with a ringerbox, but we might have one if you would like one with it for an extra fee (please inquire).

Kellog (Sold)

Kellogg Grab-a-phone (black) with walnut ringer box and shelf. The desk set is in excellent condition, the paint is possibly original. The handset is excellent condition also; the transmitter and receiver are both marked Kellogg. The nickel looks like it would polish up nicely. The line cord is old and the handset cord is "newer" than the line cord, but has still seen some wear. The walnut ringe rbox is an unmarked Kellogg box that rings at the turn of the crank. It has been modified with a nicely added shelf attachment on its upper surface; the desk set is intended to sit on the wall-mounted ringer box. It is unknown whether this shelf attachment was added at the factory or not.

Kellogg Grab-a-phone with ringerbox This desk phone is unmarked; it is in excellent condition and appears to possess the original paint job. The felt ring on the base is in good condition. The interior of the base appears clean and intact. The handset has the earlier "faceted" sides on the handgrip; both the transmitter and the receiver cup are marked. The handset is in excellent condition and the horn is old; there is a chip in the mouthpiece (see pix). The nickel parts look like they should clean up well. The oak ringerbox has a marked 5 bar kellogg magneto that rings at the turn of the crank. The ringer is old. There is a big reproduction nametag on the front of the box.

Monarch earlier model candlestick is unmarked and in good condition.  The old receiver is unmarked and has a 2 1/2 inch longitudinal hairline crack starting at the bell end (see pix).  The transmitter is marked and is correct for the phone.  The mouthpiece is a repro and has a couple of chips in the edge (see pix).  The cord is old and has a few “flea bitten” s[pts (see [ox).  The contents of the base of the candlestick appear to be undisturged.  The unmarked oak ringerbox is in very good condition; the finish is good.  Inside, the 4 bar magneto is marked American Electric and rings at the turn of the crank.  There is a wiring diagram in the box. 

2389 Chicago(Sold) Chicago “Oil Can Base” candlestick is in very good condition.  The receiver is old and unmarked.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and marked Chicago.  Both the mouthpiece and cord are old.  The oak ringerbox is in good condition and the finish is poor.  There around 20 pinholes in the top panel of the box (see pix).  There is one patched hole in the center of the top panel of the box (see pix).  The right upper mounting hole has been repaired sometime in the past.  The backboard is starting to split along a glue line at the top edge of the backboard. There is one small “divot” between the bells (see pix).  See the remains of the “mud dauber nests” in the box.  The box is marked Chicato.  Inside, the 5 bar magneto is marked and rings at the turn of the crank. 
0489 Dean (Sold) Dean candlestick w/Kellogg ringerbox.  The receiver is correct for the phone and is an unmarked metal Dean brand receiver.   The transmitter is an unmarked Kellogg (not correct); the transmitter cup is marked Dean. The candlestick’s bakelite, shaft has been cracked and repaired sometime in the past. THERE IS NO BOTTOM COVER ON THE CANDLESTICK.   Attached to the phone is a walnut, Kellogg ringer box with a 3 bar magneto marked Kellogg that rings at the turn of the crank.  
0563 Dean(Sold) Dean Cosmos candlestick phone with Stromberg Carlson Ringerbox.  The receiver is old with a marked Kellogg cap.  The transmitter faceplate is marked Dean.  Inside the ringerbox is a magneto marked Stromberg Carlson that rings at the turn of the crank; the ringer is correct for the box.  The cord is old.  
1735 Dean(Sold) Dean "Cosmos" candlestick is marked and is in good condition.  There are a couple of small indentations in the metal on the curved surface behind the "Kellogg" on the transmitter; it looks like it was dropped (see pix)  The receiver is  a reproduction brass Dean style that has been painted blact to match the phone.  The transmitter is marked Kellogg and is old.  the mouthpiece is aold also, and the cord is new.  The bottom cover is missing; we have the cover that came on the phone, but it was "held on by several dots of glue" and wasn't correct.  The unmarked oak ringerbox is in very good condition and the finish is good.  The backboard is split on a glue line the entire length of the box. (See pix).  Inside, the 3 bar magneto is unmarked and rings at the turn of the crank.

Automatic Electric candlestick with ringerbnox.  The candlestick has the "swivel perch" style.  The receiver shell might be a repro and the cap is old.   See pix of the whit mark on the shell.  The transmitter is unmarked with a "beveled style edge".  The mouthpiece is old.  The oak ringerbox is in good condition and the finish is good.  Inside is a marked Stromberg Carlson magneto that rings at the turn o f the crank.  See pix of the imprinted numbers and info on the box edges.  The backboard of the ringerbox is split on the bottom edge along a glue seam.

Century straight shaft candlestick w/o ringerbox. The switch hook is correct and displays the Century teardrop style loop. The candlestick is marked Century Telephone Construction of Buffalo, New York. The base is clean, it has the coil, and the interior appears undisturbed and complete. The receiver is not correct for the phone; it is old and marked Stromberg Carlson. The transmitter is old and correct; it has the typical Century number card holder. The mouthpiece is old and has a moderate chip. The receiver cord is old and there is no line cord present.

Connecticut Candle Stick with oak ringer box (painted black) The candlestick has p0atent dates stamped around the shaft stating 1904; there is a call button on the base. The receiver is a marked leich receiver. The transmitter is marked Connecticut and the perch is stamped "D4582". The oak ringerbox has been painted black sometime in the past. The oak is in good condition and the paint is poor. There are 3 holes on the inside of the door that do not appear to go through to the outside of the door. The backboard is old, but has been altered (top and bottom edges do not match the side routing pattern.  The dimensions between the two top mounting holes is 5 5/8 inches; the vertical distance between the holes is 9 3/8 inches; the diagonal distance between the upper left and the lower right hole is 10 15/16 inches.
