Eureka Electric tandem (Sold)

Eureka Electric oak tandem is in good condition; the finish is poor.  There are 7 patched holes in the front panel of the battery box under the shelf (see pix).  There are 16 small holes on the top of the shelf (see pix).  There are 4 patches one in the center top of the backboard, one at the bottom center of the backboard,  1 at the top left mounting hole, and 1 at the lower left mounting hole.(see pix of all)   The receiver is an old Leich with a marked shell; there is a longitudinal seam in the shell.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and is marked Eureka.  The mouthpiece is a repro and the cord is old.  Inside, the 4 bar magneto is unmarked and rings at the turn of the crank; the magnets are “chrome bars.”  The battery box is correct for the phone and contains 2 glass battery jars.  One is unmarked with both a reproduction porcelain collar and metal rod.  The other is embossed “L.C.& E. Co.” in the glass; the jar has both an old porcelain collar (cracked see pix) and an old metal rod.

Eureka Tandem (Sold)

Eureka oak tandem is in very good condition; the finish is gone. There are 2 holes in the backboard of the bop box, just above the magneto. There is 1 patched hole in the backboard to the left of the top box. There is one patched hole in the top of the backboard above the left binding post. There is one divot on the backboard above the topbox toward the right side. There are 4 or so patched holes around the transmitter arm. The battery box is a reproduction. The receiver is old, and the transmitter is marked Eureka. The transmitter arm has a new bolt and nut. The mouthpiece is old (see pix of the nick in the rim), and the cord is new. Inside, the 4 bar magneto rings at the turn of the crank. The chrome bars are marked “H.C.” Both the switch hook and the ringer are unmarked and correct for the phone. The top box has a metal name tag on the door; all the paint is missing from the metal name tag. The battery box is a reproduction and is unmarked. The decorative beading on the battery box is incorrect. There are two glass batteries in the box. One battery is marked “L.B.Co.” and has both a reproduction porcelain collar and metal rod. The other jar is unmarked and also has reproduction hardware.

Farr oak tandem (Sold) 

Farr oak tandem is in very good condition and the finish is poor.  There are no holes or patched areas detected on the phone.  The beading is somewhat distressed on the sides of the battery box.  The receiver is an old unmarked pony receiver.  The transmitter is correct for the phone and unmarked.  Both the mouthpiece and cord are reproductions.  Inside, the 5 bar magneto is unmarked and rings at the turn of the crank. Both the ringer and switch hook are correct for the phone.  The battery box is correct for the phone and contains 2 glass battery jars.  One of these is embossed “L.C.& E. Co.” and has a reproduction porcelain collar and reproduction metal rod.  The other battery is embossed “L.B. Co.” and also has a reproduction porcelain collar and reproduction metal rod.

Farr oak tandem (Sold)

Farr oak tandem is in good condition and the finish is poor.  There are 2 patched holes at the top and bottom center of the backboard.  There are 2 patched holes on the top of the shelf (see pix of all).  There is 1 split five inches in length along a glue joint at the bottom edge of the backboard.  There are 2 patched holes in the front panel of the battery box above the molding.  The lower 4 ˝ inches of the battery box has been replaced on each side and on the very bottom of the box.  The typical decorative beading is missing from the lower portion of the battery box.  The receiver is old and unmarked.  The transmitter is correct and is an earlier, unmarked Farr style.  The mouthpiece is a repro and the cord is an “ER Runzel” cord (tag still on the cord, see pix).  Inside, the 5 bar magneto is unmarked and rings at the turn of the crank.  Both the switch hook and ringer are correct for the phone.  The battery box contains 2 glass batteries.

WTA2 2885 Farr (Sold) Item 2885 is a Farr tandem style wood wall phone. It is made of quarter-sawed oak. The overall condition of both the wood and the finish is good. The bottom of the battery box has been professionally repaired. It is not noticeable from the outside but if you take the box off the phone and look inside the repair is detectable. The phone is well marked by a metal tag on the door that reads: "Farr Telephone Co. 118 & 120 West Jackson Blvd. Chicago". The lightening arrestor is correct. The bells are brass. The transmitter is old, unmarked, and correct for the phone. The mouthpiece is new. The receiver cord is new marked "Runzel". The phone has a 5-red bar mag. It is unmarked. The phone rings when cranked if the receiver is in "hung-up" mode. Both the switch and the ringer are unmarked and correct. The phone has two glass wet cell batteries. See pictures.
